Philadelphia, PA – Rain is set to return to the region this week, with the best chances arriving by Wednesday morning across the Delaware Valley, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.

Forecasters say conditions will remain dry through Monday before clouds build late in the evening. “Increasing clouds with chances for rain developing mainly over Delmarva by late Monday night into Tuesday,” the agency reported in its Sunday update.

By Wednesday, the rain is expected to spread northward, with the highest chances of showers and some embedded thunderstorms near and south of the urban corridor, including Philadelphia, South Jersey, and northern Delaware.

The weather service emphasized that this is not a particularly strong system and no severe weather is expected. Any rainfall will be considered beneficial after recent dry conditions.

Commuters should prepare for a wet Wednesday morning, which could slow travel across the I-95 corridor. Localized thunderstorms may cause brief heavy downpours but are not expected to produce damaging winds or hail.
