State College, PA – A snow squall warning has been issued for central Clearfield County, impacting travel early Thursday morning.
According to the National Weather Service, the warning will remain in effect until 4:30 a.m. Dangerous snow squalls are moving northeast at 45 mph, bringing intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds. Radar indicates visibility could drop to less than a quarter mile within minutes, creating whiteout conditions. Wind gusts are expected to exceed 35 mph.
Drivers on Interstate 80, particularly between the Dubois Route 255 and Snow Shoe exits (mile markers 107 to 138), are at risk of hazardous conditions. Affected areas include Clearfield, Philipsburg, Curwensville, and Woodland.
The NWS urges travelers to delay trips if possible. Those on the road should slow down and prepare for rapid changes in visibility and slippery roads. These conditions can lead to accidents, especially in high-traffic areas.
Residents in the affected regions should monitor updates and remain cautious until the snow squall passes.
