Pittsburgh, PA – Severe storms could hammer parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia by 2 p.m. Tuesday, bringing damaging winds, large hail, and a low risk of tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh.

The NWS has issued an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 out of 5) for severe weather beginning Tuesday afternoon, with the most dangerous conditions expected between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. EDT. Forecasters warn that eastern Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania will face the highest threats early on, transitioning southeastward through the evening. Threats include gusts over 75 mph, hail larger than two inches, and isolated tornadoes.

Cities like Pittsburgh, New Philadelphia, and Youngstown should prepare for rapidly changing conditions by mid-afternoon. Travel disruptions, power outages, and tree damage are possible, especially during peak commuting hours. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items, charge electronic devices, and closely monitor watches and warnings.

The timeline shows that the most intense threats of hail, damaging wind, and potential tornadoes will start across northwest Pennsylvania and southwest Pennsylvania between 2–5 p.m., then shift into eastern Ohio and the northern West Virginia Panhandle into the evening.

Severe warnings could extend into late Tuesday night, with strong wind remaining a concern through 11 p.m. Officials advise staying off the roads if storms intensify and checking for updates through the evening.
