Pennsylvania Severe Storm Warning: 60 MPH Winds, Hail Threat in State College Until 3:45 p.m. Friday

State College, Pa. – A fast-moving severe thunderstorm is pounding parts of Centre and Huntingdon counties this afternoon with wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail as large as half dollars.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, the storm was located over Rock Springs at 3:15 p.m., moving east at 25 mph. A Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 3:45 p.m. for south-central Centre and northeastern Huntingdon counties.

Communities in the storm’s path include State College, Boalsburg, Pine Grove Mills, and McAlevys Fort. Outdoor attractions like Whipple Dam State Park and the Tussey Mountain Ski Area are also within the impacted area. The storm poses a risk of property damage, including dented vehicles and downed trees or power lines.

Residents are urged to move indoors immediately, stay away from windows, and secure any loose outdoor items. Travel should be avoided until the storm passes.

The warning remains active until 3:45 p.m., and additional advisories may be issued if the system intensifies or persists eastward.
