Mount Pocono, Pa. – A soggy May is now one for the record books in Mount Pocono, where 13.26 inches of rain have fallen this month, breaking the previous May precipitation record of 10.58 inches set in 1989.

According to the National Weather Service in Philadelphia, additional light showers may nudge that total even higher before midnight. Allentown isn’t far behind—logging 10.42 inches so far, just 0.20 inches shy of its May record of 10.62 inches from 1984.

The near-constant rain has saturated soil across Monroe and Lehigh counties, with minor flooding already reported along low-lying roads and creeks. Residents should remain alert to changing conditions, especially with more rain possible through the evening.

Drivers are urged to reduce speed and avoid water-covered roads, as even shallow flooding can be dangerous. Those in flood-prone areas should check sump pumps, clear drains, and have emergency supplies on hand in case of rising water.

Showers are expected to taper off overnight, but May 2025 will go down as one of the wettest on record in northeastern Pennsylvania. Updates will be posted if final totals surpass other regional benchmarks.
