According to the Pennsylvania State Police Troop A – Kiski Valley, the incident occurred on Saturday, July 20, at a residence on State Route 22 in Salem Township. A male victim told police that an explosion happened when he started his zero-turn lawn mower, prompting an investigation.

Police determined the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device. The suspect, identified as James Sever, 53, is a former tenant of the property and is now facing a series of serious charges.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Sever, who is wanted for attempted homicide, aggravated assault, possession of weapons of mass destruction, risking a catastrophe, and other related charges. Authorities believe Sever may be hiding in wooded areas or possibly residing in New Alexandria, Derry Township, West Newton, or Kane.

Investigators said Sever’s vehicle was seized, but he is suspected to be operating a dark blue electric bike.
