Springfield Township, PA – Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information about the 1977 murder of Elizabeth “Betty Jane” Berquist.

Berquist, a nurse at UPMC McKeesport, vanished on December 17, 1977. She finished her shift, dropped off her 2-year-old daughter at her parents’ house, and returned home. She left shortly after but never made it to her plans that evening.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, a human skull was found on April 15, 1978, in a remote area of Fayette County known as Hawkins Hollow. It was the only part of Berquist’s remains recovered.

Investigators immediately classified the case as a homicide, with her boyfriend as the primary suspect. However, no arrests were ever made.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact PSP Uniontown Station at 724-439-7111 or submit anonymous tips at www.p3tips.com.

All callers may be eligible for a cash reward.
