Pennsylvania wakes under a gray sky as damp air settles low over roads, rooftops, and fields. Pavement looks dark and wet, headlights glow longer than usual, and visibility slowly fades as the morning progresses.

Temperatures climb into the mid-40s to mid-50s across the Philadelphia metro and much of New Jersey today. Clouds dominate, and light rain develops later, spreading in from the west and south by evening. While rainfall remains light, the timing matters for commuters and families heading out late.

By tonight, fog becomes the bigger concern. Meteorologists now tracking the setup warn that fog could turn dense overnight, especially in low-lying areas and near waterways. Visibility may drop quickly after sunset, creating difficult travel conditions across southeastern Pennsylvania and much of southern New Jersey.

Farther north, winter still has a grip. In the Poconos and higher elevations of Sussex County, New Jersey, temperatures hover near freezing. Light freezing rain is possible overnight, particularly in Monroe County. Even a thin glaze can create slick bridges, untreated roads, and hazardous driveways.

Drivers should slow down and allow extra space. Reduced visibility combined with wet or icy pavement raises crash risk during early-morning travel. To be fair, not everyone sees ice, but localized impacts can be enough to disrupt plans.

Wednesday trends quieter. Clouds linger early, but fog gradually lifts as temperatures rise again into the 40s and low 50s. Attention then turns toward late-week systems, with additional rain chances developing by Thursday and Friday and colder air waiting behind them.
