PHILADELPHIA, PA — The city hums under a restless sky this early morning, wind sweeping down Market Street and shaking loose the last of autumn’s color. Gusts have eased from their overnight peak, but the Wind Advisory remains a reminder that November’s transition season is well underway.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, northwest winds will gradually weaken through midmorning after gusts near 45 mph swept across the Delaware Valley late last night. A calmer, drier air mass settles in for today with sunshine and highs in the mid-50s — a quiet reprieve before the next round of unsettled weather builds eastward into the weekend.

Friday brings a brief warmup, with temperatures near 61°F under increasing clouds. A Friday night cold front will reintroduce rain across much of southeastern Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, and northern Delaware, with rainfall probabilities between 60% and 70%. Light showers may linger into early Saturday before drier air returns.

By Sunday, another system will lift in from the Appalachians, bringing a second chance for rain and a notable temperature drop as cooler air slides in behind it. Skies will clear Monday before a crisp but sunny Veterans Day Tuesday, when highs hover near 46°F with morning lows near freezing — signaling the first widespread frost potential for suburban areas.

Residents are encouraged to secure lightweight outdoor décor, clear leaves from drains, and plan early travel routes, as brief periods of rain and wind could affect weekend events and road conditions along I-95. This stretch of mild, shifting November weather is one of the last before true winter patterns begin taking hold across the Mid-Atlantic.
