Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Temperatures are set to surge across the region, with inland areas nearing record warmth before storms develop and potentially impact the Wednesday evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Philadelphia/Mount Holly, highs will climb steadily through midweek, reaching the upper 70s to low 80s inland by Wednesday. Areas farther east, including coastal New Jersey and Delaware beaches, will stay cooler due to onshore winds, with highs mainly in the 60s to low 70s.

Rain chances remain limited Monday and Tuesday, though a few spotty showers are possible. The greater concern arrives Wednesday afternoon and evening, when shower coverage increases and a few thunderstorms may develop across eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and northern Delaware.

Cities including Philadelphia, Camden, Trenton, and Wilmington could see brief downpours and lightning during peak travel hours, especially along I-95, I-76, and the New Jersey Turnpike.

Residents should plan for warm conditions early in the week and keep an eye on developing storms by Wednesday afternoon. Additional updates are likely as timing and storm coverage become clearer.
