Philadelphia, PA – Sweltering heat and oppressive humidity will grip the tri-state region Saturday, with heat index values approaching 99 degrees by mid-afternoon. A Heat Advisory remains in effect from noon to 8 p.m., affecting over a dozen counties in Delaware, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, the advisory includes Philadelphia, Camden, Wilmington, Trenton, Norristown, and surrounding suburbs. Temperatures in the low 90s combined with high humidity will significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for the elderly, young children, and those without air conditioning.

Residents across New Castle, Mercer, Gloucester, Delaware, and Lower Bucks counties should limit outdoor activity, stay in shaded or air-conditioned spaces, and drink plenty of fluids. SEPTA and PATCO riders may experience heat-related delays, while cooling centers will be open in Philadelphia and Camden through the evening.

Warnings remain in effect through 8 p.m. Saturday. More heat alerts may be issued Sunday if current trends continue.
