PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – A line of thunderstorms pushing eastward Thursday evening is expected to bring damaging winds, localized flash flooding, and even a brief tornado risk across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and eastern Maryland. The greatest impacts are expected through 10 p.m., particularly in areas outlined by the National Weather Service in Mount Holly.

According to the National Weather Service, storms are moving quickly from the west, with embedded downpours capable of producing power outages, tree damage, and flooded roadways. Heavy rain falling in short bursts could overwhelm storm drains in urban areas like Philadelphia, Camden, and Wilmington.

Drivers along I-95, the New Jersey Turnpike, and I-295 are urged to use caution as sudden downpours may reduce visibility and create hazardous travel. Local emergency management offices also warn that flash flooding in low-lying neighborhoods and underpasses remains possible into the night.

Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items, charge devices, and avoid unnecessary travel until the line of storms passes the coast later tonight.

Severe weather alerts remain active across the region, and additional warnings could be issued as storms continue eastward through the evening.
