Philadelphia, PA – An oppressive heat wave is gripping the Mid-Atlantic, with heat index values expected to soar above 105°F across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and parts of Maryland through Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, Extreme Heat Warnings and Advisories are in effect, with peak heat index readings between 106°F and 110°F expected Monday and Tuesday. Cities including Philadelphia, Allentown, Trenton, and Dover will see dangerously high humidity and temperatures nearing or exceeding 100°F for multiple days.

In addition to the heat, isolated to scattered thunderstorms may develop this afternoon, especially north of I-78, with wind gusts up to 60 mph. The threat of storms remains uncertain, but damaging winds are the primary concern if they materialize.

The heat wave is expected to peak Tuesday before gradually easing later in the week. Stay tuned for additional warnings or potential storm updates.
