Bradford, Pa. – Northern and western Pennsylvania will wake to a frosty start Monday morning as overnight temperatures dip to near freezing. A Frost Advisory remains in effect until 8 a.m., with cold conditions expected to damage unprotected gardens and sensitive plants.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, the advisory covers McKean, Potter, Elk, Cameron, Clearfield, and Somerset counties. Communities including Bradford, Coudersport, DuBois, St. Marys, Clearfield, Emporium, and Somerset are all expected to see patchy frost on lawns and vehicles by sunrise.

Residents are advised to take precautions by covering outdoor plants or bringing potted varieties indoors. Agricultural interests in particular should protect vulnerable crops, as near-ground freezing temperatures can quickly damage vegetation.

Motorists may also find frosted windshields slowing the morning commute, especially in sheltered valleys where frost forms most quickly. Conditions will improve with sunshine later in the morning, with afternoon highs climbing into the 60s.

Forecasters note that additional chilly nights remain possible this week, which could bring more frost advisories if clear, calm conditions continue.
