Pennsylvania – Flags whip, loose debris skitters, and steady rain taps windshields this morning as strong winds surge across the Delaware Valley. Conditions feel unsettled early, and travel impacts are already building as the region heads into the final days of 2025.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a Wind Advisory remains in effect from mid-morning today through early Tuesday afternoon. West winds increase to 20 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph across southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware, and southern New Jersey. Showers move through early, followed by rapidly strengthening winds.

In Philadelphia, rain and patchy fog give way to breezy conditions by late morning. Temperatures peak near the mid-50s before turning sharply colder this afternoon. Drivers along I-95, I-76, and the Schuylkill Expressway should expect sudden crosswinds, especially on bridges and elevated ramps. High-profile vehicles may struggle at times.

By evening, colder air pours in behind the system. Wet pavement may refreeze late tonight as temperatures fall below freezing, raising the risk for black ice early Tuesday. Tree limbs could come down in gustier bursts, and isolated power outages remain possible.

Tuesday stays dry but blustery, with highs near the mid-30s and a sharp winter feel. Winds slowly ease Tuesday night, setting the stage for colder nights through midweek. By Wednesday night, clouds increase with a slight chance of light snow as New Year’s Eve approaches.

New Year’s Day 2026 looks mostly sunny but cold, with highs near freezing and lingering slick spots possible during early morning travel. Winter weather remains close enough to demand caution during holiday plans.
