Frackville, PA – A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that could help solve a decades-old homicide case in Schuylkill County. Pennsylvania State Police, Troop L in Frackville, are renewing their call for tips in the 2003 killing of 38-year-old Caryn J. Fortino.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Fortino’s body was discovered on May 23, 2003, in a wooded area off Interstate 81 in Delano Township, Schuylkill County. Investigators determined she died of asphyxiation by strangulation.

Fortino, who was from the Philadelphia area, last had contact with her family around February 2003. Despite extensive investigation, her homicide remains unsolved.

Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the PSP Reading Station at 610-378-4454, the PSP Tips Line at 1-800-472-8477, or submit an anonymous tip online at www.p3tips.com.

Police say all tips could be eligible for a cash reward if they lead to an arrest, the solving of this cold case, or the location of a wanted person or fugitive.

Anyone with knowledge about Fortino’s death is encouraged to come forward. “Even the smallest detail could help bring closure to this long-standing investigation,” troopers said in their release.
