Clearfield County, PA – A renewed $5,000 cash reward is being offered for information that could solve the decades-old disappearance of 29-year-old Katherine Jones, who went missing from Clearfield County in 1974.
Jones was last seen on Sept. 27, 1974, reportedly leaving with an unidentified man believed to be her fiancé. She had left her four children in the care of a friend, a move family and friends described as highly uncharacteristic. Jones has not been seen or heard from since.
According to the Pennsylvania State Police Troop C – Clearfield Station, Jones’s disappearance was not reported for more than two weeks. Family members later received a handwritten note stating she would return for her children in October 1974, but she never returned.
A friend of Jones told investigators that on the day she vanished, Jones appeared happy and visited her home before departing in a red Volkswagen 113 driven by a man with dark hair and a mustache. The man has never been identified, and investigators now suspect foul play in the case.
At the time of her disappearance, Jones stood between 4’2” and 4’6”, weighed 104 to 114 pounds, and had brown hair and green eyes. Her clothing at the time was not documented.
