Pennsylvania Cold Case: $5,000 Reward Offered in 2013 Killing of Butler County Business Owner

Butler, PA – Pennsylvania State Police are seeking new leads in the unsolved 2013 homicide of Robert Charles Gaurich, a business owner fatally shot behind his Evans City auto repair shop. A $5,000 reward is now being offered for information that helps close the case.

According to PSP Troop D in Butler, officers responded at 11:19 p.m. on January 11, 2013, to Bob’s Truck & Auto Repair on Evans City Road. There, they discovered Gaurich, 45, lying face down on a gravel pile with an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.

Investigators believe Gaurich was attacked inside the business and tried to escape through the east main door before being shot. A 30/30 caliber Winchester rifle, reportedly owned by the victim, was missing from the scene.

The firearm was described as a Canadian Centennial 30-30 lever-action rifle, 26 to 28 inches in length, and marked with the years 1867–1967. It had a wooden stock, iron sights, and was missing a sling ring and scope.
