Hamburg, PA – The Pennsylvania State Police are renewing efforts to identify a man found dead in the Schuylkill River more than two decades ago — and a $5,000 reward is now being offered for information that solves the case.

According to Pennsylvania State Police Troop L – Reading Station, the unidentified white male was discovered on June 25, 2003, in the river near Perry Township, Berks County, about two miles southwest of Hamburg Borough.

The victim was found wearing black khaki pants and a black ankle-high boot (size 10½). Investigators estimate he stood about 5’10”, weighed 160 pounds, and had brown or reddish-brown thinning hair, brown eyes, a full beard with mustache, and a pierced left ear.

Authorities have entered the case into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs ID: UP994). A computer-generated image shows what the man may have looked like prior to his death.

State police say all tips could qualify for a cash reward if they lead to identifying the victim or determining how he died. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Reading Station at 610-621-8630, the PSP Tips hotline at 1-800-472-8477, or submit online at www.p3tips.com/tipform.aspx?ID=107.

The case remains open under Media Release #5299 and may be updated as new information develops.
