Philadelphia, PA – A cold front will bring snow showers and frigid wind chills to the region starting Wednesday night.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), temperatures will drop into the low 20s on Wednesday night, with wind chills dipping into the single digits. A chance of light snow showers emerges Thursday afternoon, particularly after 1 p.m., creating slippery road conditions. Residents should plan for slower travel during commutes.
Thursday’s high will struggle to reach 33°F, with brisk winds of 10–15 mph adding to the chill. Snow accumulations are expected to remain light, but even a dusting could create hazardous conditions, especially on untreated roads.
Conditions improve briefly by Friday, with sunny skies and highs near 41°F. However, mild temperatures won’t last long. Rain is likely late Saturday as highs rise into the mid-40s. By Sunday night, temperatures will plummet again, and the coldest air of the season could arrive early next week, with lows in the teens.
NWS advises residents to dress in layers and limit outdoor exposure, particularly during nighttime hours when temperatures will be at their lowest. Motorists are encouraged to monitor road conditions and allow extra travel time on Thursday.
For those planning outdoor activities this weekend, Saturday afternoon appears most favorable before rain moves in later in the day. Sunday’s chance of snow will make for a chilly end to the weekend.
