Philadelphia, PA – Drivers in eastern Pennsylvania and parts of New Jersey should expect low visibility through 9 a.m. Thursday as a dense fog advisory slows morning travel across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, visibility will remain under a quarter mile in areas including Philadelphia, Reading, Allentown, Trenton, and Flemington until mid-morning. The advisory includes parts of Bucks, Montgomery, and Chester counties, as well as northwest New Jersey. Motorists are urged to use headlights and reduce speed during commutes.
By late morning, skies will begin to clear, but the break in clouds may trigger pop-up thunderstorms through this evening. The NWS estimates a 20–30% chance of showers and storms in cities like Vineland, Long Branch, and Wilmington, DE. Though storms are expected to remain isolated, any cells could bring brief downpours and gusty winds.
Temperatures will climb into the upper 80s with high humidity, increasing the potential for heat stress during the afternoon. Residents are encouraged to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activity during peak heat hours.
Additional advisories may be issued if storms strengthen later today.
