Philadelphia, PA – Residents across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and parts of Maryland should prepare for a noticeable jump in temperatures over the next two months, with typical highs reaching the mid-80s by late June.

According to the National Weather Service office in Mount Holly, normal high and low temperatures are rising at a rate of 7 to 10 degrees per month through June, with an average increase of about 2°F per week. Cities like Allentown, Trenton, and Wilmington are expected to see average highs around 84°F to 85°F and lows in the mid-60s by June 23.

Philadelphia’s normal high on April 23 is 68°F, but that climbs to 76°F by May 23 and 85°F by June 23. Mount Pocono, typically cooler due to elevation, will also rise from 58°F to 76°F during the same period. The change marks the most rapid temperature increase of the year.

With Memorial Day weekend approaching and summer close behind, NWS officials are encouraging residents to prepare for extended periods of heat. That includes checking air conditioning systems, staying hydrated, and monitoring vulnerable groups.

Temperatures will continue trending upward through Independence Day, with more heat alerts likely as summer begins.
