Philadelphia, PA – Parts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey will bake under the hottest temperatures so far this year on Thursday, with highs pushing into the lower 90s and a slight risk of afternoon storms north of I-78.

According to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, a clearing sky and smoke aloft moving out will allow full sunshine to boost temperatures into the upper 80s and low 90s, especially from Philadelphia to Trenton. Areas southeast of I-95, including Camden, Vineland, and Dover, could see highs of 91°F to 92°F.

Northeastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey, including Mount Pocono, Morristown, and Long Branch, may see a few pop-up storms between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Thursday. These storms could bring gusty winds and brief downpours, though widespread severe weather is not expected.

Residents should limit outdoor activity during peak heat, stay hydrated, and ensure pets have access to shade and water. Cooling centers may be activated if temperatures stay elevated into the evening.

Warm, dry conditions are expected to persist into Friday, though forecasters note additional storm chances may return for the weekend.
