Pennfield Township, MI – A major intersection in Pennfield Township was shut down for several hours today after a two-vehicle crash left several people injured, including a 63-year-old woman in critical condition.

According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, the collision happened at approximately 2:36 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Pine Lake Road and Clear Lake Road. Deputies from the Pennfield Division responded to the scene along with first responders after reports of a serious personal injury crash.

Authorities said several individuals were hurt in the crash, but the most critically injured was a 63-year-old female passenger. Life-saving measures were performed on site before she was transported to a local hospital for further care. Others involved in the incident were either treated at the scene or taken for evaluation, the sheriff’s office reported.

Preliminary investigation allegedly shows that a westbound vehicle on Clear Lake Road did not stop at a traffic control device, resulting in a collision with a northbound vehicle on Pine Lake Road. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team spent several hours conducting a thorough investigation at the intersection, which remained closed to traffic for much of the afternoon.

Officials said the Pennfield Township Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance assisted at the scene.
