Pendleton, OR – The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued multiple Wind Advisories for large portions of central Oregon and southeast Washington today, warning of gusty winds up to 50 mph as a cold front sweeps through the region.

  • Central & North-Central Oregon (Madras, Redmond, Bend, Fossil): Advisory in effect 11 a.m.–11 p.m. PDT Friday. Expect southwest winds 20–35 mph, gusting to 50 mph.
  • Yakima Valley, Lower Columbia Basin & Simcoe Highlands (WA): Advisory runs 2 p.m.–11 p.m. PDT Friday, with similar wind speeds and gusts near 50 mph.
  • Foothills of the Blue Mountains (WA – Walla Walla, Dayton): Advisory in effect 5 p.m.–11 p.m. PDT Friday, with gusts up to 50 mph.

Forecasters caution that strong winds may knock down tree limbs, cause isolated power outages, and make driving difficult for high-profile vehicles along exposed routes such as Highways 97, 97A, 395, and I-84.

Residents should secure outdoor items, use caution when traveling, and stay alert for rapidly changing weather conditions.
