Peachtree City, Ga. – Georgia residents are bracing for dangerously high heat this afternoon, with heat index values expected to soar between 105°F and 110°F across much of the state, prompting urgent warnings from the National Weather Service.

According to the US National Weather Service in Peachtree City, the hottest feels-like temperatures are forecast between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Monday, impacting Atlanta, Macon, Columbus, and Augusta. Areas along the I-75 and I-85 corridors will be particularly affected. These extreme conditions significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for outdoor workers, children, and the elderly.

Job sites are urged to provide frequent shaded breaks and hydration. Motorists are reminded to never leave kids or pets in vehicles, even briefly. Outdoor activity should be limited, with water and shade prioritized. Those without air conditioning are encouraged to seek cooling centers or check in with vulnerable neighbors.

Today’s heat marks one of the most intense events of the summer so far for Georgia, with more triple-digit days expected this week.

Heat advisories remain in effect through Monday evening, and additional alerts may be issued as temperatures stay elevated into midweek.
