Pasco County, FL – Residents are being targeted by a new wave of jury duty scams, according to the Pasco Sheriff’s Office. Deputies say callers pose as officials, claiming individuals missed jury duty and must pay a fine immediately.

According to the sheriff’s office, the scammers often spoof local numbers, including lines linked to the department, or call from blocked numbers. Victims are told to send payments through PayPal or by purchasing and mailing gift cards. In some cases, callers allegedly claim to represent Pasco County Jury Services.

Officials stressed that the Pasco Sheriff’s Office does not handle jury duty notifications and will never contact residents to request money. “PSO will never solicit people for any kind of monetary transactions, especially involving gift cards,” the department said in a statement.

Authorities encourage residents who receive such calls to hang up immediately and avoid sharing personal or financial information. Legitimate jury duty notifications are always sent through official court channels, not over the phone.

Anyone who has been targeted by this scam should report the incident to local law enforcement.
