Parke County Sheriff Investigates After Body Discovered inside SUV in Indiana Field

Parke County, IN – A body was found inside a vehicle in a field in Parke County on Thursday morning, prompting an investigation by local authorities. Deputies from the Parke County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report at 10:35 a.m. regarding a vehicle parked in a hayfield several hundred feet from the roadway in the southwest section of the county.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered an SUV with a deceased female inside. The identity of the woman has not yet been officially verified, though the vehicle was determined to belong to Carolyn Braner, 79, of Rockville, who had been reported missing on August 14, 2024, by the Rockville Police Department.

The Parke County Sheriff’s Office stated that deputies are currently investigating the death and are awaiting autopsy results along with a positive identification from the Parke County Coroner’s Office. At this time, authorities do not suspect foul play in the incident.
