Rockville, IN – Deputies with the Parke County Sheriff’s Office responded Saturday night to reports of a shooting in the Howard area that left one man injured and a woman in custody.
According to the Parke County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 9 p.m. on October 11, 2025. Deputies said Skyler Chowning, 25, of Veedersburg, sustained a gunshot wound to his left inner thigh and was being driven to the hospital by Hannah Boswell, 21, of Kingman, when officials intercepted the vehicle on Tow Path Road.
Chowning and Boswell initially reported that an unknown suspect shot him outside a residence. However, investigators later determined the wound was accidental and self-inflicted, according to deputies.
Authorities said Chowning was flown to an Indianapolis hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Boswell was arrested on a charge of Possession of a Legend Drug, and officials noted that additional charges may be filed as the investigation continues.
Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including Rockville Police, Indiana State Police, Vermillion County Deputies, Bloomingdale Fire Department, and Parke County EMS.
