According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, showers and isolated storms could develop after 1 p.m. Saturday, accompanied by gusts up to 20 mph along key roadways like I-40 and U.S. Route 87. While the risk of severe storms remains low, residents should remain weather-aware due to shifting wind patterns and the potential for brief downpours or lightning.

Sunday—Mother’s Day—looks far more promising. Skies will be sunny with a high near 76°F, ideal for brunches, park visits, or other outdoor celebrations. Winds will stay light from the southwest, offering a calm and comfortable start to the week.

Looking ahead, summer-like warmth dominates the five-day forecast. Monday brings a high near 85°F with partly cloudy skies and gusts near 20 mph. Tuesday continues the heat with a high near 88°F, followed by slightly cooler temps midweek, dipping to a still-warm 82°F by Thursday.
