Amarillo, TX – Temperatures across the Texas Panhandle are expected to soar into the 90s tomorrow, creating both intense heat and critical fire weather conditions. Amarillo is forecasted to hit a high of 93°F, matching record temperatures from 2018 and 1971. Other cities in the region, including Borger and Dalhart, could also see highs in the 90s.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service Amarillo, the combination of warm temperatures and southwest winds gusting up to 40 mph will create a heightened risk for wildfires on Saturday. These conditions are expected between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m., with low humidity values making it easier for fires to start and spread quickly.

Residents are advised to limit outdoor activities, especially during the hottest parts of the day. The Weather Service also recommends staying hydrated and protecting against heat-related illnesses. Additionally, fire precautions are critical—officials urge residents to report any potential fire hazards to local authorities immediately.

As temperatures climb, both safety and preparedness will be key for navigating the day’s challenges.
