Palos Park, IL – A senior citizen reported receiving a fraudulent letter warning of an impending home warranty expiration. The letter, claiming to be from the “Home Warranty Division,” urged the homeowner to call a number provided, which the Palos Park Police Department (PPPD) confirms is a scam.

According to PPPD, the letters falsely imply an affiliation with the homeowner’s mortgage company and the county deed records office. Warning signs include the absence of a company name or address, references to the homeowner’s insurance policy, and envelopes marked with “OPEN IMMEDIATELY.”

Residents are advised to discard these letters and verify any home warranty company’s legitimacy through state licensing, industry memberships, and reviews from recognized sites such as the Better Business Bureau and homewarrantyreviews.com.
