Palos Park, IL – The Palos Park Police Department has announced its first-ever Citizen’s Police Academy, inviting local residents to take part in an interactive 12-week course beginning January 13, 2026.

According to the department, the academy will be held every Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Kaptur Administrative Center, located at 8999 West 123rd Street in Palos Park. The program will conclude with a graduation ceremony on March 31, 2026.

Designed to strengthen relationships between officers and community members, the Citizen’s Police Academy will offer participants a closer look at law enforcement operations, procedures, and public safety initiatives within the Village of Palos Park.

Applications are available on the Palos Park Police Department’s website or in person at the Kaptur Administrative Center. Completed applications must be submitted by Monday, November 3, 2025, to the attention of Commander Chris Hughes either in person or by email at chughes@palospark.org.

The course is open exclusively to Palos Park residents and limited to 15 participants. Selected applicants will be notified by email during the week of December 1, 2025. Those not selected will be placed on a waitlist or considered for future academy sessions.
