Miami, Fla. – Roads across South Florida could flood this afternoon as another round of scattered thunderstorms develops, bringing heavy rainfall and gusty winds across the region. Drivers in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach should expect ponding on streets and slower commutes through the evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, storms will strengthen after midday, with the highest chances for rain between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Some storms may bring wind gusts up to 35 mph along with repeated downpours, raising the risk of localized urban flooding.

Rain chances are highest in Miami and LaBelle at 73%, with Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton near 69%. Naples has slightly lower odds at 64%, but still faces potential flooding on major roadways. Inland cities like Immokalee and Homestead will also see rounds of heavy rain into tonight.

Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded intersections and secure loose outdoor items ahead of gusty winds. Conditions should gradually improve late tonight, but additional showers remain possible into Tuesday.
