Palm Beach County, FL – Detectives are asking for the public’s help after a disturbing act of animal cruelty was reported Friday in The Acreage, where a chicken was allegedly set on fire and left to die.

According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred Friday, December 26, near the intersection of Avocado Boulevard and 60th Street. Investigators say a dark-colored SUV or crossover stopped at the intersection, and multiple occupants exited the vehicle.

PBSO said the individuals allegedly set a chicken on fire before fleeing the area in the vehicle. The animal later died a short distance from the intersection.

Detectives with the PBSO Animal Crimes Unit released an image of the vehicle involved and are urging anyone who recognizes it—or who may have seen the incident—to come forward. Authorities have not released information on possible suspects, and no arrests have been announced.

Animal cruelty cases in Florida can carry serious felony charges, depending on the circumstances and intent involved. PBSO officials emphasized that even small details from the public could help move the investigation forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective C. Kovacs with the Animal Crimes Unit at KovacsC@pbso.org. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477).
