Paducah, Kentucky – Summer-like heat will peak Thursday afternoon across western Kentucky and the Quad State before a sharp cold front triggers a rapid سقوط in temperatures, bringing near-freezing conditions by early Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, highs will reach 85 to 86 degrees Thursday in cities including Paducah, Murray, and Mayfield, potentially tying or breaking daily records. Nearby communities such as Cape Girardeau, Carbondale, and Evansville will see similar warmth before the front moves through late Thursday night.

By Friday, temperatures fall back into the upper 50s to low 60s, with an even colder start expected Saturday morning. Overnight lows are projected to dip between 33 and 35 degrees across parts of southern Illinois and western Kentucky, increasing the risk of frost, especially in rural and low-lying areas.

Major roadways including I-24 and I-69 will remain dry, but the dramatic temperature swing could impact agriculture and early spring vegetation. Residents should cover sensitive plants and prepare for colder mornings after an unseasonably warm day.

Warmer conditions are expected to return early next week, but the immediate concern remains the sharp drop following Thursday’s heat. Additional advisories may be issued as frost potential becomes clearer heading into the weekend.
