Paducah, KY – Strong winds are sweeping through Kentucky and surrounding states today, with gusts reaching 45 mph in some areas. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Wind Advisory effective until 2 p.m., urging caution for those traveling on highways such as I-69 and US-60. Drivers may face challenges due to blowing debris and reduced visibility.

According to the NWS Paducah office, wind gusts will peak late this morning and gradually taper off by the afternoon. Residents are advised to secure outdoor decorations and lightweight objects, as gusts could cause them to become hazardous. Breezy conditions will linger through Sunday evening, with cooler temperatures expected as the week progresses.

Monday will bring partly sunny skies, offering a brief reprieve from today’s severe weather. Highs will reach the upper 50s, but scattered rain showers are expected to return Monday night, with winds gusting up to 30 mph. New Year’s Eve on Tuesday will see cloudy skies with a chance of rain in the afternoon, high temperatures around 52°F, and cooler lows in the 30s.

Looking ahead to New Year’s Day, mostly sunny skies and cooler conditions are forecast, with highs around 42°F and a light northwest breeze. Travelers and holiday planners should monitor local updates to stay informed about changing conditions.

Stay prepared by securing loose items, limiting outdoor travel during peak wind times, and checking forecasts regularly.
