Paducah, KY – A shift toward a cooler, wetter pattern will begin Monday across western Kentucky, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah. After a warm and dry weekend, rain and thunderstorms are expected to move in at the start of the new workweek.

According to the NWS Paducah office, scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop Monday and continue into Tuesday night. Average rainfall totals are forecast between 0.50 to 1.50 inches, though localized areas could see higher or lower amounts depending on storm activity.

Highs are projected to reach the upper 70s to low 80s Monday and mid-70s to low 80s Tuesday, bringing a noticeable cooldown compared to Sunday’s highs near 87 degrees. Overnight lows will fall into the low to mid-60s through midweek.

The unsettled weather pattern should taper off by midweek, with drier and more seasonable conditions returning for the back half of the week. Forecasters note that the shift will mark a return to more typical early-October temperatures for the region.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts for any updates on potential heavier rainfall or isolated thunderstorms as the front moves through.
