Paducah, KY – Residents across western Kentucky should prepare for a soggy start to the week, with rain expected to move in Monday night and continue into Tuesday morning. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Paducah reports that the heaviest rainfall will occur overnight Monday, bringing between 0.5 and 1.5 inches across much of the region.
According to the NWS Paducah office, the approaching system will usher in a pattern of unsettled weather beginning Monday, followed by cooler, more seasonable temperatures by midweek. Forecast models show the highest rainfall totals near Murray, Hopkinsville, and Paducah, where up to 1.5 inches could accumulate.
The agency’s latest outlook indicates a strong chance of rain between 6 p.m. Monday and noon Tuesday, with probabilities exceeding 70% across several counties including McCracken, Graves, and Christian. Temperatures are expected to drop after the front passes, settling into the 60s by Wednesday and Thursday — a welcome shift after recent unseasonable warmth.
Drivers should watch for ponding on roads during heavier downpours and allow extra travel time Monday night and Tuesday morning. No severe weather is expected at this time.
