PADUCAH, Ky. – Cooler, drier air has settled over the lower Ohio Valley, bringing a stretch of quiet fall weather through the weekend with a pair of chilly nights that could deliver patchy frost to parts of western Kentucky and southern Illinois.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, daytime highs will stay mainly in the upper 50s to lower 60s, with crisp nights dropping into the 30s and low 40s. The coldest readings are expected Friday night and Sunday night, when rural areas near Mayfield, Marion, and Cape Girardeau may briefly dip to near freezing.

Forecasters say most of the region will remain dry, though a weak disturbance could bring a 15–20% chance of light showers between Saturday night and Monday. No widespread rainfall or severe weather is expected, and outdoor weekend plans should go uninterrupted.

Residents are advised to protect sensitive plants, check on outdoor pets, and prepare for chilly mornings as November begins. Clear skies and calm winds overnight will favor rapid cooling in sheltered valleys and open farmland, allowing localized frost to form.

The mild afternoons and cool nights will continue into early next week, keeping ideal conditions for fall harvest, travel, and outdoor activities across the mid-Mississippi Valley.
