Paducah, Kentucky – Cold temperatures and biting wind chills are expected across the Paducah area late tonight and into early Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service in Paducah reports that wind chill values will drop into the 5 to 10 degree range overnight across the northern half of the Quad State region, including western Kentucky. These conditions may be hazardous for prolonged outdoor exposure during overnight and early-morning hours.

Early Tuesday morning observations at Barkley Regional Airport showed temperatures near 22°F, with wind chills around 14°F under fair skies. Northwest winds around 6 to 8 mph are contributing to the cold feel, even as winds gradually diminish overnight.

Tuesday will bring some improvement, with increasing clouds and highs expected to reach around 36°F during the afternoon. Despite the warmer air, early-morning wind chills will remain cold before moderating later in the day.

Tuesday night will remain cold, with lows near 26°F, followed by continued warming midweek. Wednesday is expected to be mostly sunny with highs near 45°F, marking a noticeable rebound from early-week cold conditions. Overnight lows Wednesday night will fall to around 28°F.

On New Year’s Day, sunny skies are forecast with highs near 46°F, providing the warmest conditions of the week so far. Temperatures continue to climb late week, with highs near 52°F on Friday, though a chance of showers may develop by Friday afternoon and night.

No winter weather advisories or warnings are currently in effect, and spotter activation is not anticipated at this time. The National Weather Service notes that the probability of widespread hazardous weather beyond cold wind chills remains low.

Commuters, students, and early-shift workers should dress in layers and limit time outdoors during the coldest overnight and early-morning periods.
