Paducah, Kentucky – Colder temperatures will persist today across western Kentucky before a noticeable warming trend begins Sunday, bringing sunshine and significant snowmelt early next week.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Paducah, highs today will range from the upper 20s to mid-40s under mostly sunny skies. While conditions remain chilly, forecasters say a shift toward warmer weather will begin Sunday and continue through at least Tuesday.

Sunday temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-30s to low 50s, followed by a more pronounced warm-up on Monday. Highs Monday are forecast to reach the upper 40s to mid-60s across the region, including areas along Interstate 24, Interstate 69, U.S. Highway 60, and U.S. Highway 62.

The warming trend will lead to rapid snowmelt in areas where snow remains on the ground. While no flooding concerns have been indicated at this time, residents should be aware of ponding in low-lying areas and near storm drains as melting accelerates.

Plenty of sunshine is expected through the early part of the week, helping improve road conditions and easing travel for commuters and commercial drivers. Overnight lows will also trend upward, reducing the risk of refreezing during the morning commute.

The next chance for rain is forecast to arrive Tuesday night into Wednesday as a new system approaches the region. Rainfall amounts and impacts remain uncertain, but damp roads could affect midweek travel.

The milder conditions may benefit outdoor workers, students, and those with weekend and early-week travel plans along major highways.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts from the National Weather Service as temperatures rise and the next rain system approaches.
