Paducah, Kentucky A relentless stretch of triple-digit heat will grip western Kentucky starting Friday, August 15, and persist into Tuesday, August 20, pushing heat indices as high as 105°F each afternoon. Roads like US-60 in McCracken County will absorb and radiate heat, creating added risks for overheating vehicles, pets, and outdoor workers.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, daytime highs from Friday through Tuesday will range from 94°F to 101°F, with minimal overnight relief. Humidity will keep the region sweltering, especially during peak weekend travel and outdoor events. Officials recommend limiting strenuous activity, checking on vulnerable neighbors, and staying off the roads during peak heat hours (2–6 p.m.) if possible.

Friday will be mostly sunny with a high near 96°F, but Saturday begins the real stretch of extreme conditions with a forecasted high of 98°F. Sunday and Monday will be the most intense, with daytime highs of 100°F and 101°F respectively. Slight chances of isolated thunderstorms return Tuesday night into Wednesday, but won’t provide widespread relief.

This weather pattern affects much of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast Missouri. While heat advisories have not yet been issued, residents should expect them by this weekend.
