Paducah, Kentucky – Rain chances are expected to increase across western Kentucky later this week, with light showers possible tonight and a more widespread rainfall event forecast for the weekend that could impact travel near Interstate 24 and Interstate 69.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, temperatures will cool slightly through the remainder of the week but remain near to slightly above seasonal averages. Scattered light showers are possible this evening, mainly across areas west of the Purchase Parkway, with overnight low temperatures ranging from 27 degrees north to 38 degrees south.
Wednesday is expected to be mostly dry, with highs ranging from 43 to 57 degrees under partly sunny skies. Additional warming continues into Thursday, with highs forecast between 43 and 53 degrees. Rain chances increase Thursday night as moisture returns to the region.
The most significant weather impacts are expected from Friday night through Sunday. Forecasters currently project widespread showers during this period, with weekend rainfall totals forecast in the 1 to 2 inch range. Probability of precipitation increases steadily Friday evening and remains elevated through Saturday and Sunday, particularly during overnight and early morning hours.
Friday’s high temperatures are expected to range from 49 to 55 degrees, followed by Saturday highs between 50 and 56 degrees. Overnight lows throughout the weekend are forecast to remain above freezing, limiting winter weather concerns but increasing the potential for wet road conditions.
Drivers along I-24, I-69, and U.S. 60 should prepare for reduced visibility and slick pavement during periods of heavier rainfall, especially during nighttime travel windows. While no flooding concerns have been issued at this time, residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates as rainfall totals are refined.
The upcoming pattern may be relevant for commuters, students, and weekend workers planning travel during peak evening hours.
