PADUCAH, Ky. – Kentucky residents can expect a picture-perfect holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine, mild afternoons, and comfortably cool nights. Temperatures will stay below normal for late August, with highs mostly in the 80s and overnight lows dipping into the 50s and low 60s.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, dry conditions will dominate through Labor Day, making it an ideal stretch for outdoor plans. Low humidity will keep afternoons more comfortable than typical late-summer heat, especially across western and central Kentucky.
By Tuesday, however, a cold front begins to change the pattern. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are possible through Wednesday, with highs sliding into the upper 70s to low 80s. The front will push in even cooler air by Thursday, when highs may only reach the lower 70s in parts of the region.
Travelers and outdoor workers are advised to prepare for quick weather changes early next week. While no widespread severe storms are expected, lightning and brief downpours could impact road travel and holiday return traffic Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday.
Residents should take advantage of the dry weekend while keeping an eye on forecast updates for early next week. Additional advisories could be issued as the cold front moves through.
