Paducah, KY – Widespread rain is drenching western Kentucky today, with periods of heavy rainfall and localized flooding possible through the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Paducah. The rain is expected to gradually taper off this evening from west to east as a cooler air mass moves in.

According to the NWS, thunderstorms could develop later today, though severe weather is not expected. Rainfall probabilities remain near 90–100% for most of the morning and early afternoon before dropping sharply after 3 p.m. Areas including Cape Girardeau, Owensboro, and Madisonville may see brief downpours before conditions improve overnight.

Wednesday will bring breezy, cooler weather with highs in the 70s and lows in the 40s. The remainder of the week looks dry and seasonable, with sunny skies forecast Thursday through Saturday and temperatures ranging from the upper 60s to mid-70s.

Residents are advised to watch for ponding on roads and minor flooding in low-lying areas. Drivers should reduce speed and use caution during heavy rainfall periods, especially during the morning commute.
