Paducah, Kentucky – A brief warm-up early this week will give way to cooler, unsettled weather across western Kentucky, with rain and light snow chances returning by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, temperatures will trend warmer on Monday and Tuesday, offering a short break from winter conditions. Highs on Monday are expected to range from 47 to 54 degrees, followed by a milder Tuesday, when temperatures climb into the mid to upper 50s and low 60s. Overnight lows during this period will remain mostly above freezing, settling between the upper 20s and upper 30s.
The pattern begins to change on Wednesday, as a midweek weather system moves through the region. Forecasters expect rain showers transitioning to light snow, particularly as colder air filters in behind the system. While snow accumulations are expected to be light, mainly on grassy and elevated surfaces, the combination of precipitation and wind could create brief slick spots.
Wednesday will also be breezy, with early morning wind chills dropping into the single digits to low teens, despite afternoon highs reaching 44 to 51 degrees. Conditions turn colder by Thursday, when highs fall into the low to upper 30s, with overnight lows dipping into the teens and low 20s.
By Friday, temperatures recover slightly, with highs forecast between 40 and 48 degrees, though readings are expected to remain below normal for mid-January.
No winter weather advisories are currently in effect, but the rapid temperature swings may affect commuters, students, and outdoor workers adjusting from mild afternoons to winter chill within days.
