Paducah, Kentucky – A roller-coaster temperature pattern is setting up across western Kentucky this week, starting with a rebound to above-normal warmth before a sharp cold front delivers much colder air by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, temperatures will climb into the upper 40s to mid-50s Monday and surge further Tuesday, with highs reaching the mid-60s across parts of the region. That warmth will be short-lived, however, as a strong cold front sweeps through early Wednesday, opening the door to much colder air.

Light rain is possible Tuesday night into Wednesday, and forecasters say precipitation could briefly mix with or change over to snow Wednesday evening as temperatures fall. While only a dusting is possible on elevated surfaces, significant impacts are not expected at this time. Winds will increase behind the front, creating blustery conditions and pushing wind chills into the single digits early Thursday morning.

Highs Thursday are expected to struggle into the low to mid-30s, with morning wind chills between 5 and 12 degrees making it feel much colder. Friday remains chilly, with highs in the 40s and cold overnight lows.

Residents are urged to prepare for the abrupt temperature drop, dress in layers, and monitor updates in case midweek precipitation trends colder. Even colder conditions are possible heading into next week, and additional advisories may be issued as confidence increases.
