Boise, ID – A winter storm is set to bring snow, gusty winds, and hazardous travel conditions to parts of Idaho and Oregon beginning Thursday afternoon, with impacts expected through Friday.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Boise, a Winter Weather Advisoryis in effect for northeast and southeast Oregon from 4 p.m. PST Thursday to 4 p.m. PST Friday, covering Harney, Baker, Malheur counties, and the Oregon Lower Treasure Valley. Snow accumulations are expected to range from 2 to 4 inches in lower elevations, with 6 to 10 inches possible in the mountains. Winds could gust up to 45 mph near the Nevada border, making travel difficult.
In Idaho, the advisory begins later, running from 11 p.m. MST Thursday to 5 p.m. MST Friday. Affected areas include the West Central Mountains, Boise Mountains, Camas Prairie, and Upper Weiser River regions. Mountain areas could see 6 to 12 inches of snow, with gusts up to 35 mph on ridgetops, leading to slick roads and reduced visibility.
