PORTLAND, Ore. – A string of bright, mild fall days continues across northwest Oregon, but changes are on the horizon as Pacific moisture approaches by the weekend. For now, sunshine and calm winds dominate through Thursday, offering a pleasant break from early October’s unsettled pattern.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, daytime highs will reach the low 60s through midweek, with cool, crisp nights dipping into the low 40s under mostly clear skies. Light north-northeast winds will occasionally gust to 15 mph before easing at sunset. This pattern will hold steady through Thursday before increasing clouds signal the arrival of the next system.

By late Friday and into Saturday, a weak front will move inland, bringing the return of scattered showers across the metro area and foothills. The system is expected to remain light but may produce slick roads and reduced visibility for weekend commuters on I-5, U.S. 26, and Highway 30.

Forecasters say the weekend won’t be a washout, but outdoor plans may need a quick adjustment Saturday afternoon as rain chances increase. Temperatures will cool slightly, remaining seasonable in the upper 50s to low 60s through Sunday before another round of showers possibly follows early next week.
